Be cautious of anyone who guarantees the northern lights. They are natural and visibility varies. We drive to clear skies, increasing chances. Best time is late August to April, especially in darker months.
From November to April you can pair the aurora with a night of ice fishing: catch burbot and lake trout by lantern, then watch the lights come up over the ice. See Winter / Ice Fishing for the night trips.
